Narrative Discovery is a small site where people post their views on American stocks. It is run by one person. This page describes exactly what it stores, why, and how to get rid of it.
There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The site contains no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. Nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing.
What is stored
Only if you create an account:
- Your email address. Used to identify your account and sign you in. It is never shown to other users.
- A display name and username (handle). Both are public. If you sign in with Google, the initial name comes from your Google profile; you can change it in Settings.
- A profile picture URL, if your Google account has one.
- What you post: your narratives, the 0–10 grades attached to them, your votes, and your watchlist. Everything except the watchlist is public.
- The date you joined, and — if your account is ever banned — the fact that it was.
If you never create an account, nothing about you is stored at all. You can read the whole site logged out.
Cookies
- A sign-in cookie, set by Supabase, which keeps you logged in. Removing it logs you out.
- A theme cookie (
nd-theme) remembering whether you chose light or dark.
That is the complete list. There are no advertising or analytics cookies, which is why the site shows no cookie banner.
Who else sees it
The site relies on a few services to run. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Supabase — stores the database and handles sign-in.
- Vercel — hosts the site and serves the pages.
- Google — only if you choose “Continue with Google”, and only to confirm who you are. Google tells us your email address, name and profile picture, and nothing else.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — the anti-bot check on the sign-in page.
Market prices and news come from external data providers. Those requests are made by our server about companies, never about you — no provider receives any information about who is browsing.
Deleting everything
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from Settings. It is immediate and permanent, and it removes your sign-in record, your profile, and every narrative, grade, vote and watchlist entry you created.
Accounts that are banned for abuse have their posts deleted too. That is also permanent.
Data is kept for as long as the account exists. There is no archive or backup copy kept separately after deletion.
Children
The site is not intended for children under 13, and accounts should not be created for them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list, so there is no notification to send.
